A hole in the siding isn't too much of a surprise,

but something about it fills you with curiosity.

You'd think some critter'd make a home under there by now, huddling up in the dark beneath the crumbling house during the day, only to venture out at night to nibble on the roots and stalks of the endless tall grass. Or perhaps instead a critter which likes to feed on those little things. A peek underneath reveals no slumbering rabbits or coyotes, not much at all. Only darkness chooses to greet you, sidling its way up to the very edge of the wood lattice, but not daring to venture any further. Even among the warm winds which ride along the tips of the grass, you feel a cold breeze slide by politely, finding its business under the house.
